The Australian Outback is the setting for the Mad Max films and video games.
Background
After a global oil crisis and resultant nuclear war, the Outback has become a principal location of humanity, supporting many tribes, forts, and small towns. The Main Force Patrol, a staple of the wastes, attempts to enforce order and law in the lawless post-apocalypse; principle among these enforces is Max Rockatansky, known better by his nickname "Mad Max."
